A woman is facing charges, including impaired driving, after a boy was reported left at the side of the road near Mount Forest.

Grey County OPP received a call around 9:45 a.m. Tuesday reporting a SUV had pulled over to the shoulder on Grey Road 14.

A boy, who police say was seven years old, was left behind as it drove away.

Police later located a SUV matching the description given by the caller northeast of Mount Forest.

The vehicle was stopped in the middle of the road with the driver slumped over the steering wheel. Police say a bottle of alcohol was spotted next to the driver.

At the time, a five-year-old girl was the lone passenger with the driver.

An ambulance was called to take the driver to hospital as a precaution because of the suspected level of intoxication.

When the woman was released from hospital, she was taken to the local OPP detachment.  Police say she failed a subsequent breath test, having more than three times the legal limit of alcohol in her system.

A 37-year-old Mississauga woman will face charges of care and control of a vehicle while impaired, care and control of a motor vehicle over 80 mgs and fail to provide necessaries of life of a child.
