Three weeks after an vehicle hit a house on Merion Street in Guelph, police say they’ve located and arrested its driver.

The 27-year-old man was arrested Tuesday morning, in connection to both that collision and a recent series of thefts.

He was spotted around 6:30 a.m. by a homeowner on Glenburnie Drive, who allegedly saw the 27-year-old breaking into his vehicle and confronted him, at which point the 27-year-old ran away.

Police tracked him down on Hadati Road, placing him under arrest and allegedly finding him to be in possession of various stolen items.

He now faces charges including theft, breaking and entering, possession of stolen property, careless driving, driving without a license, driving without insurance, and other offences related to the Sept. 27 collision on Merion.

Police say they want to hear from anyone who had items stolen from their car Monday night or Tuesday morning.
