Guelph’s Chief Administrative Officer will not be renewing her contract with the city.

Ann Pappert was named CAO in 2011, after joining the city in 2008 as Executive Director of Community and Social Services.

CAO terms run for five years. Pappert’s contract is set to conclude in October 2016.

Since the spring Pappert had been in talks with council to discuss terms about renewing her contract, but in press release from the City of Guelph, released late afternoon Thursday, it explains that Pappert “advised Council that while the discussions have been positive, she has decided to cease the negotiations.”

“I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Council and with the many talented and dedicated employees of the City of Guelph,” said Pappert. “Guelph is an outstanding community that is not only loved by those who live and work here, but well-known, respected, and admired outside our borders.”

In position of CAO is the only contract position that reports directly to the Mayor and City Council. It is also the sole contract position that is recruited by the Mayor and City Council.
