A collision left hydro wires down across part of Edinburgh Road near the University of Guelph on Monday, prompting police to close the street.

The single-vehicle collision occurred around 12:45 p.m.

Edinburgh was then closed between Forest Street and Dean Avenue. Guelph Police said it would likely not reopen until sometime in the evening.

The driver of the lone car involved was taken to hospital with unknown injuries.

Further information was not immediately available.
