A vehicle was found travelling at nearly triple the speed limit on a road east of Guelph, police say.

According to Wellington County OPP, the vehicle was stopped around 3 a.m. Sunday on Highway 7 near Wellington Road 44.

It had allegedly been locked on radar at 136 km/h. The speed limit on that section of the highway is 50 km/h.

As a result, a 21-year-old Brampton man has been charged with racing a vehicle.

In addition to any punishment that may be meted out through the courts, he has lost his driver’s licence and his vehicle for seven days.
