Complaints about a car club’s weekly meetup led police to keep an eye on the meeting – and they ended up charging one driver.

Guelph Police say the car club meets Wednesday nights, and has been the subject of complaints from the owner of a commercial property.

This Wednesday, they were near Edinburgh and Stone roads. Guelph Police officers, OPP officers and Ministry of the Environment personnel were on-hand as well to observe the situation.

Shortly before 10 p.m., police say, three vehicles were seen racing westbound on Stone Road and onto the Hanlon Parkway.

One of them was allegedly driving at 145 km/h in an 80 km/h zone, and was pulled over by police.

Its driver, a 20-year-old Guelph man, was charged with speeding and street racing. He received a seven-day suspension of his driver’s licence, and had his vehicle seized for the same amount of time.
