Stephan Dietrich, the man accused of killing his wife and hiding her remains at their home, appeared in a Guelph courtroom on Thursday via video link.

Dietrich was arrested in June 2015, almost one year after Seble Dietrich was first reported missing.

Seble, who went by the name Mimi, was last seen on July 19th, 2014. Her disappearance wasn’t initially considered suspicious. Police say the 39-year-old made frequent trips to Ethiopia, often without letting anyone know of her plans.

Police became concerned after Mimi’s car was found outside her Guelph coffee shop, where she also ran a prayer group.

Guelph’s Ethiopian community also organized multiple rallies to raise awareness about Mimi’s disappearance.

Her 42-year-old husband was eventually charged with her murder.

Police found her remain at the Vancouver Drive home the two shares with their three children.

Stephan Dietrich is charged with obstructing justice and first degree murder.

Hit next court date is on September 9th.
