On the fourth day of picketing outside a Guelph auto parts manufacturer, locked out employees blocked the entrance to the plant.

Workers at Hematite Manufacturing’s facility on Speedvale Avenue have been unable to enter the building since Sunday morning.

They say their employer is trying to force through cuts to wages, benefits and vacation time.

Thursday morning, the employees were joined by supporters from other unions as they blocked anyone from entering the building.

Police were also on-hand, observing the situation.

Friday morning, the workers will take part in a supervised vote on the company’s most recent contract offer, which they voted down by a one-vote margin in a previous vote.
