A man is in custody after an incident in Guelph on Tuesday.

Police were called to Emma Street around 2 p.m.

They say a man had barricaded himself in an apartment.

After lengthy negotiations, police took the man into custody around 11 p.m.

Police say there was no danger to the public but did ask residents to stay away from the area while the investigation was underway.

A 32-year-old Guelph man has been charged with uttering threats, assault with a weapon and weapons dangerous.  He is will appear in court Wednesday morning for a bail hearing.
