Two separate incidents involving coyotes on Guelph’s Niska Trail have been reported this month.
In one case, city officials say, a dog was attacked while its owner was hiking on the trail.
The other incident saw a coyote try to attack a hiker walking two dogs.
It’s not clear if the same coyote was involved in both incidents.
People using the south-end trail are being urged to keep their dogs leashed, and clean up after them.
Officials recommend that anyone who spots a coyote keep their distance and slowly back away from the animal, while making noise to scare them off.
