A group of neighbours came together at a public meeting in Guelph Thursday evening to talk to councillors about a new development at Dublin Street and Cork Street.

The developer of the proposed building wants to build a five-storey apartment that would include affordable housing for seniors. The current zoning is for a four-storey apartment.

The new plans are concerning to some neighbours, who are worried about parking and increased traffic. Others don’t think that the site is an appropriate place for a seniors' home.

Phil Allt, the councillor who represents the area, says the city needs to look at the plans closely and take into account the thoughts of the public.

“They're very concerned about the quality of their neighbourhood and whether this will enhance or detract from the neighbourhood.” he says.
