Two large water main breaks that occurred around 1 a.m. Friday have resulted in the closure of two roads in Guelph.

Repairs are underway on Speedvale Avenue and Silvercreek Parkway and will continue throughout the day until completed in the evening, the city said.

Speedvale Avenue between Silvercreek Parkway to Dawson Road, and Silvercreek Parkway between Speedvale Avenue and Campbell Road, are closed.

As a result of the repairs, residents and businesses in the immediate area may experience limited or no water pressure. The city said discoloured water may also occur, cautioning the public to wait until the water runs clear before drinking it.

Updates on the construction will be provided on the city's website.
