A Guelph pizza delivery man was beaten unconscious Thursday evening during an altercation.

Police say the man had stopped his car along Water Street to make a home delivery around 9:10 p.m.  As he parked, a man on a bicycle stopped next to his car and an argument began.  The driver grabbed the pizza and got out of his car to deliver it to the home.

The bicyclist grabbed the antenna on the car, broke it off, and started to ride away.  The delivery man caught up with him and a fight ensued.  The man on the bike continued to strike the victim until he lost consciousness.

Police located and arrested the cyclist some time later.  A 39-year-old Guelph man has been charged with aggravated assault and mischief under $5,000.
