Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is making the rounds of southern Ontario as he touts measures contained in the federal budget.

Thursday morning, the prime minister stopped at Fanshawe College in London to tout his government’s $2-billion plan for education and training.

He was then grilled by the media on a number of topics, including his government’s decision to sign an arms deal exporting London-made light armoured vehicles to Saudi Arabia.

Trudeau said signing the deal was a “matter of principle,” as Canada’s “word needs to mean something in the international community.”

The prime minister then moved on to Guelph, where he toured auto parts maker Magna Polycon Industries.

No formal announcement was made at that stop, but Trudeau did attract large crowds of interested onlookers inside the plant.

Friday, the prime minister will visit Waterloo Region.

His itinerary shows an announcement taking place at the Perimeter Institute in Waterloo at 10 a.m., followed by a tour of Cambridge business Canadian General-Tower in the afternoon.
