Plenty of speeding tickets were issued Tuesday morning, as Guelph Police focused on keeping the city’s streets safe for kids returning to school.

According to the police, 20 drivers were charged with speeding offences between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. alone.

Of those 20, 14 were in the area of Ecole Guelph Lake Public School, a new school in the area of Watson Parkway and Speedvale Avenue.

By early afternoon, the total number of tickets issued had risen to 41.

After the Ecole Guelph Lake area, the busiest neighbourhood was around Victoria Road and Brunswick lane, where police issued 13 tickets in less than two hours.

Police say they’ll continue to watch for unsafe drivers.
