Mailboxes in Waterloo Region, Guelph and Wellington County have been targeted for break-ins in recent days, police say.

All of the affected mailboxes are community mailboxes, also known as superboxes.

Wellington County OPP say they were notified Monday morning about “numerous” mailboxes being entered within their jurisdiction, as well as others in Guelph and Waterloo Region.

In all cases, the boxes were broken into by somebody who pried open their main door in order to access the mail inside.

Some of the mailboxes were damaged, but not accessed.

Police say they’re not yet sure how much mail was taken, and want to hear from anyone with information.
