A large area around downtown Guelph was left without electricity Wednesday afternoon.

The outage was reported around 12:45 p.m.

According to Guelph Hydro, it affected a total of 1,832 properties.

Affected properties were in an area roughly bordered by Dublin Street in the west, Powell Street and Guelph General Hospital in the north, Franklin Avenue and Jackson Street in the east, and Elizabeth and Carden streets in the south.

Information on the cause of the outage was not immediately available. Guelph Hydro reported that power was restored to all affected properties around 1 p.m.
