Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit has invoked its mandate to look into another incident involving Guelph Police officers.

According to Guelph Police, the investigation relates to an arrest made early on the morning of May 23, on Speedvale Avenue West.

Police did not say why the man was arrested. They did say that “a struggle ensued” during his arrest, after which the man claimed to have been injured.

After being released from police custody, he was taken to hospital to be treated. Police say he was released from hospital later that day.

The man then filed a complaint about his arrest, which prompted the SIU to commence its investigation.
