An abandoned home east of Guelph has been destroyed by fire.

Fire crews were called to the farmhouse on Arkell Road in Puslinch Township shortly before 6 a.m.

When they arrived, they found the home engulfed in flames. Firefighters from Guelph and Guelph/Eramosa were called in to help.

“They were able to do a fairly quick attack to knock it down, but (the house) will be a total loss,” said Guelph fire chief John Osborne.

No injuries were reported.

The fire is being considered suspicious. Electrical causes were ruled out quickly as there was no electricity running to the structure.

The home on Arkell Road is about five kilometres from two other farmhouses that were hit by fires earlier this month. Those fires – which both broke out on Third Line in Guelph/Eramosa – have also been called suspicious.
