Two convenience stores in Guelph were robbed at gunpoint just after midnight Thursday morning, less than five minutes apart.

The Petro-Canada gas bar at the intersection of Imperial Road and Paisley Road was the first to be held up. Just three minutes later, the Mac’s convenience store across Paisley was robbed in the same manner.

Cash and cigarettes were stolen in both robberies by suspects described as black, wearing hoodies, and brandishing hand guns, say police.

In both cases the attendants say they were traumatized by the incidents, and police say that that fact is usually forgotten.

“When you’ve got someone pointing a gun at you, it can have a pretty traumatic effect,” said Const. Mike Gatto, Guelph Police.

Police say that they are now looking for four men.
