A retailer in Guelph’s north end was closed Wednesday afternoon amid concerns about the building’s safety after a vehicle crashed through the storefront.
It happened around noon, at the Long & McQuade music store on Arrow Road.
Authorities at the scene said that a driver was attempting to park when her foot slipped, and she hit the gas pedal instead of the brake.
The vehicle ended up going through the front of the store. A number of guitars – some of which are valued at $3,000 or more – were destroyed. In total, damage is estimated at $75,000.
No injuries were reported.
An engineer inspected the building Wednesday afternoon and declared it structurally safe. As a result, the business was expected to reopen as usual on Thursday.
