Cape Breton police arrest two men after fatal stabbing

Two people are in custody after a fatal stabbing in Whitney Pier, N.S.

The Cape Breton Regional Police has arrested two people following a fatal stabbing in the Whitney Pier area on Wednesday morning.

Police say they found a male with stab wounds on Frederick Street around 11:30 a.m. He was taken to hospital and later died, according to a news release from police.

Officers followed a suspect vehicle on the South Bar Highway towards New Waterford, but had to call off the pursuit out public safety concerns.

Along with RCMP officers, Cape Breton police were able to stop the vehicle on Highway 223 near Orangedale and arrested two men around 1 p.m.

The major crime unit is investigating the incident.
