N.S. RCMP arrests 2 people after seizing cocaine, unstamped tobacco in Cumberland County

A man with alleged ties to an outlaw motorcycle gang is facing drug trafficking charges after the Nova Scotia RCMP seized cocaine and unstamped tobacco in Cumberland County last week.

Police say they searched a home on Highway 2 of Southampton and a business on Memorial Crescent in Springhill as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation on June 4. They arrested two people at the residence.

“As a result of the searches, officers seized cocaine, psilocybin, unidentified pills, drug paraphernalia, and unstamped tobacco,” an RCMP news release reads. “Investigators also seized two loaded handguns, a rifle, ammunition, a conducted energy weapon, electronic devices, and a Toyota Tundra.”

Charles Daniel Martin, 44, was charged with:

• traffic in a Schedule 1 substance (cocaine)
• possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)
• possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition (two counts)
• possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized (three counts)
• possession of a weapon or device knowing its possession is unauthorized
• possession of a prohibited weapon, restricted weapon, a prohibited device
• possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• unauthorized possession of a firearm (three counts)
• contravenes a regulation to store, handle, transport, ship, display a firearm (two counts)
• careless use of a firearm (three counts)
• breach of release order

Police say Martin is associated with the Colchester chapter of the Bacchus Motorcycle Club. A 2018 Nova Scotia Supreme Court decision designated Bacchus a criminal organization.

Anna Katherine Trask, 45, was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine).

Martin and Trask were released on conditions. Trask is scheduled to appear in court on July 13 and Martin is set to appear on July 20.
