Homeowners in Puslinch Township attacked during break-in

A man from North Vancouver is charged with breaking into a Puslinch Township home and assaulting the homeowners.

Ontario Provincial Police said the incident happened on Tuesday, around 8:15 p.m., but did not share the name of the street.

Officers were told a stranger smashed one of the windows and attacked the two residents outside the home. He took off before police arrived on scene.

“The weapon used in this occurrence can’t be disclosed as it’s evidentiary in nature,” OPP said in a media release.

The victims were not seriously hurt.

Members of Wellington County OPP’s Uniform Patrol, the OPP West-Region Emergency Response Team and the OPP West-Region Canine Unit, along with the Waterloo Regional Police Service, searched the area.

A 58-year-old man was eventually arrested on Gore Road, just east of Cambridge.

He was charged with assault, assault with a weapon, mischief (destroying or damaging property), and two counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
