Bomb threat at Woodstock school part of wider U.S.-linked swatting incidents: police

A 14 year old has been charged after a bomb threat at a Woodstock school in April, according to police.

On April 29, police were notified of the threat at Springbank Public School. Officers responded immediately and after investigating, said the threat was a deliberate hoax, no suspicious items were found, and the threat was determined to be unfounded.

While investigating, police learned of other bomb threats and swatting incidents on the same day in Fresno, California and Youngstown, Ohio.

Working with police in those communities, Woodstock police also identified a youth in Ohio they said was connected to the Springbank school threat.

The Woodstock youth, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has since been charged with public mischief and uttering threats of death or bodily harm.
