Wingham hospital rescinds closure notice after securing proper staffing levels

The Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance had announced a temporary closure at an emergency department, but has since notified CTV News that is no longer the case.

The Wingham and District Hospital Emergency Department was set to close from Jan. 23, 2026, at 9:00 p.m. to Jan. 24, 2026, at 7:00 a.m. due to low staffing levels.

However, proper staffing levels has since been secured, making the closer no longer required.

Wingham’s emergency department will operate as normal overnight.
