Another heavy police presence in Sault Ste. Marie

Sault police and witnesses from the scene confirm that a body was found Wednesday morning at the Bellevue Marina on Pine Street.

For the second day in a row, there is a significant police presence in the Pine Street area of Sault Ste. Marie.

An investigation is underway at an apartment building in the 700 block of Pine Street, Sault Ste. Marie Police Service said in a news release Thursday morning.

This after a sudden death investigation began Wednesday morning at the nearby marina when a body was found on a dock.

Police spokesperson Lincoln Louttit would disclose the type of investigation underway but confirmed to CTVNewsNorthernOntario.ca in an email Thursday morning that the two are not believed to be connected.

“The scene is secure and officers remain on scene as the investigation is ongoing,” the news release said.

When asked if anyone had been injured, Louttit said, “Further information will be released as it becomes available.

Missing man

On Wednesday night, police issued a news release about a missing man last seen in the 700 block of Pine Street on Tuesday morning.

Scott Devlin, 52, was wearing a black, long-sleeved shirt, pants, ball cap and running shoes with a reflective vest when he was last seen around 8:30 a.m. June 17, Sault police said.

“Scott has tattoos of a panther and the word sinner on one arm and the word saint on the other,” police added.

“Anyone with information on Scott’s whereabouts is urged to contact Sault Ste. Marie police by calling 705-949-6300.”

There is no indication that the man’s disappearance is related to the investigation underway at a red brick apartment building.
