Hwy. 11 collision claims life of a Geraldton driver

Ontario Provincial Police say a 54-year-old Geraldton driver died Monday morning following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 11 in Clavet Township.

In a news release, police said officers and emergency personnel responded to the crash involving a passenger vehicle and commercial motor vehicle at 6:45 a.m. west of the Pagwa River Bridge between Longlac and Hearst.

“A 54-year-old driver from Geraldton was pronounced deceased at the scene, and the passenger was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries”, police said.

“The driver of the commercial motor vehicle sustained minor injuries”.

Police said Highway 11 was closed for 18 hours between Hearst and Longlac, and was reopened after midnight Tuesday morning.

Police said more information will be released as the investigation progresses.
