Local man breaks into home of complete strangers: North Bay police

A North Bay man has been charged following an alleged break-in at a residence in the 400 block of Nipissing Street last week.

The North Bay Police Service said officers responded to a report of a break-and-enter in progress at about 9 p.m. on May 29.

Alleged unlawful entry

“It is alleged that the accused unlawfully entered the residence while two occupants, who were unknown to the accused, were inside,” said police in a news release.

Officers arrived and located the accused inside the home, where he was arrested without further incident.

‘Unsettling incident’

“The prompt response of those who reported the incident, combined with the quick actions of responding officers, was instrumental in ensuring the safety of those inside the residence and preventing further harm,” said Acting Deputy Chief Jeff Warner.

The accused has been charged with breaking-and-entering to commit an indictable offence.

The man was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
