New CT scanner arrives at Timmins Hospital, foundation goal of $15 million reached

It was big day at the Timmins and District Hospital, as a new CT scanner has arrived and a fundraising goal of $15 million has been reached.

About $1.5 million dollars of that was donated by the City of Timmins and it was used to purchase a new CT scanner.

On Tuesday, the hospital unveiled a plaque commemorating the contribution.

Staff told CTV the unit will run 24-hours a day, producing over 10,000 scans annually.

In addition, staff said having the latest in medical technology will help to attract more bright medical minds to the north.

The hospital foundation said there are more big announcements to come.
