Northern Ont. man faces child porn charge

A 25-year-old Cochrane man is facing child pornography charges following an investigation by the Ontario Provincial Police.

On Aug. 7, 2024, officers from the James Bay OPP detachment executed a search warrant at a residence on Shelby Avenue.

Police said, in a news release, that officers seized three electronic devices for examination.

The investigation, supported by the OPP’s digital forensics unit and child sexual exploitation unit, led to the accused’s arrest on April 10 of this year.

The man has been charged with possession of child pornography.

The accused was released after a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear in court on May 29.

“The OPP is committed to identifying and holding accountable those who exploit children through the possession, distribution, or creation of child sexual abuse material,” said police.
