Teens threaten staff at knife-point during weekend robbery: Sault police

Two 15-year-olds face multiple charges following a reported robbery at a business on Wellington Street West.

Police say officers were dispatched to a business in the 600 block of Wellington Street West shortly before 10 p.m. on April 26, after 911 operators received a report of a robbery.

“An investigation revealed two youth verbally threatened an employee while brandishing a knife when they were confronted about stealing,” the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service said in a news release.

Officers located two suspects nearby who matched the descriptions provided and took them into custody.

“A search of the accused located a knife and pepper spray,” said police.

Both accused are charged with robbery, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a weapon and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.

The two youths were released on undertakings and are scheduled to appear in court on June 9.
