Liquor Mart selling U.S. liquors again while supplies last

The Manitoba Liquor Mart is selling U.S. liquors again, while supplies last -- to clear out stocks expiring soon.

The Liquor Mart website posted an update Monday, stating that the U.S. products are available now at all Liquor Marts in the province.

This update comes without any prior announcement, compared to last time when the province brought back U.S. liquors.

Glen Simard, the minister responsible for the Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Corporation, said in a statement that the government’s position against U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs has not changed.

“Rather than letting remaining expiring inventory go to waste, Manitoba Liquor Marts will sell these products at a discounted rate, with proceeds being donated to charities supporting Manitobans,” Simard said in the statement.

“We’d rather see that money help people here at home than send another dollar south of the border.”

According to the post, all sales of U.S. liquors are final. Products are in saleable condition and within expiration dates, but “a few of the liqueurs are nearing the end of their retail shelf life and have been discounted to sell.”

A provincial spokesperson told CTV News some of the products that are nearing soon are cream-based products, wines and others, with discount rates varying but up to 30 per cent.

The charities that will receive the donation are yet to be decided, the spokesperson added.

No holds, delivery or click-and-collect sales are available for U.S. liquors.

Specialty wine stores, hotel beer vendors, rural liquor vendors, and licensees like restaurants and lounges can also sell some of the U.S. liquor products, the Liquor Mart said on its website.
