Winnipeg getting new dog park this summer

A new dog park is coming to Winnipeg’s Bridgwater Trails neighbourhood.

Pet owners in the city’s Bridgwater Trails neighbourhood will soon have a new place to let their dogs roam free.

A dog enclosure is set to open in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park on Appleford Gate later this year.

In a social media post, Coun. Janice Lukes (Waverley West) said the fenced-in dog park will be about one acre in size and include amenities like benches, trees, and plenty of garbage cans.

Lukes didn’t share a definitive opening date in her post but wrote the dog park should be up and running by mid-summer. She added the City of Winnipeg will be posting more information about the greenspace soon.

According to the City of Winnipeg’s website, there are currently 15 off-leash dog area locations in city-owned parks and public spaces.
