The provincial government has announced a $50,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of Frederick Hatch’s killer.

Hatch was found dead last December, in a wooded area near Wellington Road 124 and the 10th Line in the Town of Erin.

The previous day, he was spotted at a dollar store in Nepean, near Ottawa.

At the time, he was wearing blue jeans, a black leather jacket, a denim vest featuring pictures of Disney characters, a blue and white bandana, glasses and black Harley Davidson boots. He was also carrying a red duffel bag.

Hatch was 65 years old and had to fixed address.

He was known to hitchhike, but it is not clear if that is how he travelled from Nepean to Erin. Also unclear to police is whether he was alive or dead when he arrived in Erin.

Police consider his death to be a murder. Details on the cause of his death have not been made public.

OPP say anyone with information that may help them learn more about Hatch’s death should contact police or Crime Stoppers.
