8 municipal utilities form Maritime alliance to focus on clean energy transition

Eight municipal utilities across the Maritimes have formed an alliance to focus on the clean energy transition.

The Maritime Municipal Electric Utility Alliance (MMEUA) aims to explore opportunities and pool resources across Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. Its members are:

-Saint John Energy

-Edmundston Energy

-Perth-Andover Electric Light Commission

-Town of Antigonish

-Town of Mahone Bay

-Town of Riverport

-Town of Berwick

-City of Summerside

“Our utilities share a vision of a cleaner, smarter, and more resilient energy future,” said Glen Fillmore, chair of the Alliance, in a news release. “The MMEUA gives us the platform to lead climate action, foster innovation, and deliver sustainable solutions while respecting the unique strengths of each community we serve.”

“Projects such as grid modernization, advanced metering, and integration of cutting-edge technologies for customer service are all tangible examples of how the Alliance will work to support a sustainable energy future for our communities and customers,” said Greg Gaudet, executive secretary for the Alliance.
