A Winnipeg woman who saved a young girl and her father from drowning in the Red River last week has reunited with the family — and heard how certain they were the girl hadn’t survived.

The second annual Winnipeg Lantern Festival began Sept. 5 in the Exchange District and runs until Sept. 6. The community celebration features lantern displays, cultural performances and food vendors.
