Clear and chilly Thursday night
High pressure in place on Thursday is giving the Maritimes a very sunny day. High temperatures are expected to reach the mid-to-high single digits. Mostly clear conditions will persist into and through Thursday night.
If you wanted to take advantage of the clear sky, there are some interesting things to spot in the night sky. The moon is nearly full, with 95 per cent illumination and will be rising above the eastern horizon through the evening. Jupiter is an easy planet to spot and will be above the western horizon after sunset. If you are in a particularly good night sky viewing spot, the constellations Taurus and Orion can be spotted close to that planet. You may notice another relatively bright object a bit higher and to the left of Jupiter. That is the planet Mars and will be sitting between the constellations Cancer and Gemini.
You’ll want to dress for chillier temperatures. Low temperatures Thursday night in the Maritimes are expected to fall between zero and – 6.

Fair weather Friday
High pressure starts to move east of the Maritimes on Friday.
The morning should begin sunny with increased cloudiness from the west beginning in the afternoon. It will be a very seasonable early April day, with high temperatures expected to reach 6-to-10 degrees.
Expect an ocean breeze to keep things cooler on parts of the coast. Ocean breezes are very active this time of the year, with the air being drawn onshore off the chilly ocean waters by the daytime heating of the air over land. In the evening, that process reverses, and the wind will generally turn offshore.
Weekend rain
Our next weather maker will be a low-pressure system developing and moving up the U.S. eastern seaboard. The low will move north of Cape Cod and then pass just to the south and east of Nova Scotia Sunday into Monday.
There is a chance of showers in western New Brunswick and southwestern Nova Scotia beginning Saturday afternoon. Periods of rain, drizzle, and fog will develop for the Maritimes Saturday night into Sunday. There may be some wet snow that mixes in for northern areas of New Brunswick.

The rain is likely to be intermittent in nature, with breaks possible during the day Sunday. A further round of rain is expected to move in for Sunday night and linger with some showers into Monday.
It is too early to pick out specific rainfall amounts for specific locations, but I’d expect general rain totals of 10-to-40 mm in the region with a weather system such as this.
