Indie-folk musician Daniel James McFadyen and actor/director Jonathan Torrens have teamed up for a music video for McFadyen’s newest single, “Hurt My Heart.”

The video, which was released Wednesday, was partly filmed in the open countryside near Truro, N.S., featuring Torrens and his horse Amos.

“I’m relatively new to horsemanship, but I know it requires one to be PRESENT,” Torrens wrote in a Facebook post Wednesday.

“When we give each other the attention we both deserve, it’s so rewarding to see what we can accomplish together.”

Shot, directed and edited by Tim Mombourquette, the video plays like a visual love letter to unplugged living.

Torrens, best known for his roles in Trailer Park Boys, Mr. D, Letterkenny and Street Cents, has long been a vocal supporter of East Coast artists. He frequently shows up to amplify local talent.

For McFadyen, the video is a continuation of the wave he’s been riding since the release of his 2023 EP “Songs to Show Your Friends,” which earned him three Music Nova Scotia Awards.

“Hurt My Heart,” along with previous single “Landmine,” builds anticipation for his sophomore album, expected later this year.

McFadyen’s upcoming tour includes several East Coast dates — with two sold-out shows this week in Halifax, followed by performances in Truro, Wolfville, Moncton, and P.E.I.
