2 teens arrested after ambulance allegedly blocked while responding to emergency in Saint John

Police in Saint John, N.B., say they have arrested two teenagers for dangerous driving in the city early Sunday morning.

An ambulance was responding to an emergency around 4:45 a.m. when two vehicles allegedly blocked it from passing on Highway 1 westbound near the Rothesay Avenue exit.

Officers with the Saint John Police Force responded to the area and found the two vehicles in a parking lot in the Crown Street area.

One of the vehicles was parked and empty while the other allegedly collided with a police vehicle while it tried to flee.

Police say two males were inside the vehicle – aged 15 and 18 – and they were arrested for dangerous operation of motor vehicles.

No one was hurt during the incident.

Police say they later determined both vehicles were stolen.

Both teens were held in custody and are expected to appear in court on Monday on a number of additional charges.
