Two people are facing charges, including attempted murder, in connection with a stabbing and assault in uptown Saint John, N.B., over the weekend. The Saint John Police Force responded to a stabbing in the King Street area around 9:40 p.m. Saturday. Police found a 27-year-old man with serious injuries, and a 54-year-old man who was also injured, at the scene. The victims were taken to hospital, where the 27-year-old man remains in stable condition. Police responded to a residence on the city’s east side around 10:15 p.m. Officers found two injured men, ages 19 and 44, at the residence. The men were taken to hospital. Investigators determined their injuries were connected to the incident on King Street. The 19-year-old man and 44-year-old man were later arrested and appeared in court Tuesday afternoon. The older man has been charged with attempted murder and two counts of aggravated assault. The younger man has been charged with attempted murder and one count of aggravated assault. They were both remanded into custody and are due back in court on Thursday for bail hearings. “Based on the information gathered by police at the time of the incident, it was determined to be an isolated incident,” said the Saint John Police Force in a statement on Tuesday. “The accused and victims were known to each other.” Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or who has photos or videos from the scene to contact the Saint John Police Force at 1-506-648-3333.
