Man badly injured in Fredericton; two people charged with aggravated assault

Fredericton police charged two men with aggravated assault after an incident on the city’s northside, said a Sunday news release.

Police arrested Steven John Scott, age 44 and Soren Crain Scott, age 21, both of Lower Durham on Friday as part of their investigation following an incident at approximately 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

The Fredericton police force found a 58-year-old male with serious injuries when the responded to a 911 call, the release said. He was transported to hospital, treated for his injuries and later released in stable condition.

The two men will remain in custody until their court hearing this week.

The Fredericton Police Force assures the public that there is no risk to public safety because of the incident. The individuals involved were known to each other, and this was an isolated incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
