Police have released three surveillance images taken on Jan. 6 just before 2 p.m., showing the individual they’re trying to identify.

Police say the investigation is in relation to a case of fraud at Venus Court, on the city’s southside.

Generally defined, a “grandparent scam” involves somebody impersonating or falsely representing a family member in distress who claims to need money immediately. The scam usually targets seniors.

Last week, Fredericton police reported 11 serious fraud or scam complaints so far in 2025. In 2024, police responded to 350 scams and fraud complaints costing residents in the Fredericton area more than $500,000.
