A 45-year-old New Brunswick man is facing charges in connection with a firearm incident in Darlings Island, N.B.
Hampton RCMP responded to a complaint of a man shooting a firearm on Darlings Island Road just before 10:30 p.m. on Feb. 19.
When officers arrived, police say they were able to identify the man as Charles Arthur Humphries.
Humphries was arrested outside a residence on Darlings Island Road and a firearm was seized, according to a news release from police.
“At the time, police believed the incident to have been isolated, and that there was no danger to the general public,” reads the news release.
The force says no one was injured.
On Thursday, Humphries appeared in Saint John provincial court and was charged with:
- break and enter
- possession of a non-restricted firearm
- careless use of a firearm
Humphries returned to court on Monday for a bail hearing. He was remanded into custody and was ordered to undergo a 30-day psychiatric assessment.
Humphries is scheduled to return to court on March 10.
