A 32-year-old man from Sussex, N.B., is facing charges following a shooting in the town last week.
Sussex RCMP responded to a report of shots fired in a residence on Nelson Street around 10:44 p.m. Thursday.
Police say officers determined a man went to the residence and fired several shots towards the homeowner.
The force says another person was also in the house at the time of the incident.
When officers arrived, the three men were still inside the house. Shortly after their arrival, police say the homeowner exited the house.
“Police were able to make contact and negotiate with the suspect, a 32-year-old man from Sussex, who then exited the house along with a third individual. The 32-year-old man was subsequently arrested,” reads a news release from RCMP.
No one was injured and police say they determined the incident was isolated.
Later the same day, police searched the home and seized a firearm and ammunition.
Andrew Bishop appeared in Saint John provincial court on Tuesday and was charged with:
- discharging a firearm with intent
- uttering threats
Bishop was released from custody with an ankle monitoring device and a curfew. He is also prohibited from returning to the residence, contacting the victim or possessing any weapons.
Bishop is scheduled to return to court at 9:30 a.m. on May 20.
