Maritime ski hills are going the distance this weekend, taking advantage of the weather for a late season finish.

New Brunswick’s four downhill ski hills – Crabbe Mountain in Central Hainesville, Sugarloaf Provincial Park in Atholville, Mont Farlagne in Edmundston and Poley Mountain in Waterville – are all treating Saturday and Sunday as if they could be the season’s final weekend.

The SCMX Snocross Championship is happening Saturday at Mont Farlagne.

A string of spring storms and cool temperatures over the past week have helped sustain downhill skiing around the region into late March.

Poley Mountain is calling it a “bonus weekend,” after holding end-of-season festivities last week.

Elsewhere around the Maritimes, Mark Arendz Provincial Ski Park in Brookvale, P.E.I., and Cape Smokey in Ingonish Beach, N.S., are also open.

Ski Martcok in Windsor Forks, N.S. closed for the season last week, but is hosting Martock Hill Drags snowmobile races on Saturday.
