A 42-year-old man from Edmundston, N.B., is facing charges after he allegedly stole a vehicle and drove while impaired in Seigas, N.B.
Saint-Léonard RCMP received a report of a theft of a vehicle from a business on Principale Street, in the community of Madawaska Maliseet First Nation, around 10 a.m. on Feb. 27.
Shortly after, police located the vehicle on Route 144 in Siegas where it had come to a stop.
When officers approached, police say the man eventually exited the vehicle and showed signs of impairment by drugs.
The force says the man attempted to resist arrest, but following a brief altercation with officers, he was taken into custody.
The man refused to provide a blood demand, according to an RCMP news release.
He was later released on conditions and will appear in Edmundston provincial court on May 27.
