N.B. man charged with possessing, transmitting child pornography

A 49-year-old New Brunswick man is facing child pornography charges following an RCMP investigation in Richibucto-Village last year.

The Internet Child Exploitation unit launched the investigation after it received information from the RCMP’s National Child Exploitation Crime Centre in February 2024, according to an RCMP news release.

Officers executed a search warrant at a Richibucto-Village residence and arrested the suspect on Sept. 11. They also seized several electronic devices.

Steven Victor Smith was charged with possessing child pornography and transmitting child pornography on Feb. 4, 2025. He is scheduled to return to court on March 7.
