New Brunswick musician David Myles has announced he is seeking the Liberal nomination for the riding of Fredericton.
“If you know me, you know how much I love Fredericton. It has given me so much throughout my life and I’m ready to work flat out for the great people of Fredericton, Oromocto and Canada,” he said in a social media post on Sunday.
Myles is two-time JUNO award-winning sing-songwriter, perhaps best known for the 2014 hit “Inner Ninja” with Nova Scotia rapper Classified.
Jenica Atwin is the current MP for Fredericton. She was first elected in 2019 with the Green Party before she crossed the aisle and joined the Liberals in 2021.
In January, she announced she would not be reoffering in the next federal election.
Liberal Leader Mark Carney triggered the upcoming federal election on Sunday afternoon. Canadians will go to the polls on April 28.
