N.B. teen arrested for alleged dangerous driving of ATV in Sussex

A Sussex, N.B., teenager was arrested for allegedly driving an ATV in a dangerous manner Tuesday night.

The New Brunswick RCMP says officers responded to a reckless driving complaint in a Leonard Drive parking lot around 9:20 p.m. The driver of an ATV fled the scene “in a dangerous manner” and police did not pursue him.

Officers soon found the vehicle stuck in a snowbank. The 17-year-old driver was not injured.

Police arrested the teenager and later released him. He was ticketed for not having a valid registration and he is scheduled to appear in court at a late date.

“ATVs are powerful machines that have the potential to cause a lot of damage to property and even injuries if not used responsibly,” said Sgt. Kevin Glode of the Sussex RCMP in a news release. " It is important to follow the rules and to familiarize yourself with your municipality’s bylaws before riding on a public roadway."
